Pamela Schroeder draws on her background as Sculptor and Art Historian to blend the rich, decorative wealth and function of Africa with that of Europe; forging items with a timeless, classical appeal. Familiar with the historical background of African and International Art History, ancient and contemporary iconography and motifs; she translates cultural contrasts into a harmony of pattern, texture and rich form, with a personal dynamic that distinguishes her work.
Born in Johannesburg, she graduated with a BA Fine Art; BA honours in Art History, and a Post Graduate teaching diploma from the University of the Witwatersrand. The strong inter-disciplinary skills of these degrees complemented her Interior and Graphic Design background when she decided to pursue her passion for product design.
Since 1994, she has devoted her creative energies to designing and manufacturing fine pewter tableware, gifts and accessories for local and international markets. Her versatility has proved invaluable in finding unique design solutions and applications using a wide variety of materials and processes.
Passionate about Art and Design, Pamela owns Aboda Designer Gifts and Origination, and is based in Johannesburg. She consults to a wide range of clients regarding product development , design and trends, and also continues to teach and inspire young artists on the potential of Art as a unique means of self expression and career fulfilment..
